What I've Learned From Posting Consistently on Social Media
The first social media platform I ever had was Instagram. My mom let me download it when I was 12 years old. I remember my first photo I posted was this big frog I had seen at a reptile zoo. From there, Instagram has evolved and I have been through each phase that it has had. In high school I used VSCO to edit my photos. Right before college I purchased some presets that one of my favorite influencers made and I used those presets on Lightroom to edit my photos. Eventually I ended up purchasing different presets from a different influencer and I use those today to edit my photos. I still enjoy posting outfit pictures and aesthetic pictures as well.
The next social media platform I used was YouTube. I never posted anything, but I did make my own content. I filmed makeup videos and hauls, but never published them. I loved watching beauty and lifestyle videos. Now, I watch more vlogs and book videos.
I also started using Pinterest at a young age. I used to pin DIY's and recipes. Now, I pin more photo and outfit inspiration and use Pinterest more as a vision board.
TikTok was created and I started using it while everyone else was. I would learn the trendy dances and film them with my friends, but I never actually published them. It wasn't until after my mission that I started dipping my toes into TikTok content creation. I have slowly become more active on that platform.
I didn't have a Facebook account until my mission. We used it to keep in contact with members and find new people to teach. I now use it to keep in contact with friends from the mission, as well as family members. I post spiritual things as well as life updates.
Last year I created a LinkedIn account. It was never a priority for me. But, now that I am building my brand and am almost finished with my Bachelor's degree, I want to learn how to use it more.
I have the most experience posting on Instagram and Pinterest. They are two of my favorite social media platforms. A couple years ago, I used to be much more active on Instagram. I would put lots of effort into my posts, as well as my stories. I would post multiple times a month and interacted a lot with my friends and followers. This really helped grow my profile. Now, I haven't been posting as much because I haven't been prioritizing it as much. I want to find that motivation and passion again.
I've been learning a lot while posting on Pinterest. Before, I would just post pictures without any caption or link. I've since been experimenting with using key words and also learned how to create an affiliate link so that people can find the products in my posts and I can potentially make money. I have also learned how to track analytics on there and see the progress of my posts.
I hope to continue learning about other social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube and would love to practice creating content that I enjoy for both of them.
