My Dream Job

Every child has a dream of what they want to be when they grow up. I remember wanting to be an actress and singer, just like many young girls. When I was around 10 years old, my dream changed. I wanted to be a nurse. I am a very patient and compassionate person. I love helping others who are sick. I felt like it was the perfect job for me. It only required 4 years of school, I would earn good salary, and it would allow me to raise my children while still being able to work. My dreams have slightly shifted as the years have gone on. But I feel there is an underlying dream that has always been there, though it feel unrealistic to achieve.

I have always been obsessed with makeup and fashion. When I was around 12, I started watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. I would watch DIY's and had some favorite YouTubers that I would watch. It was always my dream to become one of them. It was a dream that seemed silly to me. Who would want to watch me? I didn't have good camera quality or editing skills. I didn't want to start from zero, I wanted to have all the followers and all of the tools available to me immediately. I pursued my dream of nursing, but the influencer route was always in the back of my mind.

When I got home from my mission, I continued taking classes to prepare myself for the nursing exam that was required to enter into the nursing program. I took the test twice and didn't get good enough scores to get into the nursing school I was wanting to apply to. I was devastated. I decided to change my major and start studying digital marketing. This goes hand in hand with my longtime goal of wanting to become an influencer.

Being an influencer still feels like a goal that is out of my reach, but I know I have to start somewhere. Everyone has to start from zero. No one gains a huge following overnight. I have been working on multiple social media platforms while finishing my degree. I hope that someday I can make this dream come true.
