How Frequent Blog Posting Has Affected Me
I've always loved literature. When I was little, I would leave the hall light on so I could stay up past my bedtime reading my favorite books. My sophomore year, I took Honors English. My junior year I took AP Language and Composition. My senior year I took english at a community college. My writing skills were at their peak in high school. The reason why? I practiced all the time. I was constantly reading and writing. My teachers held us to high standards. My writing was constantly being critiqued and corrected. I was constantly reading and analyzing profound literature. I haven't taken an english class for a couple of years. Because of that, my writing skills have faltered.
Since starting my writing class and have practiced blogging every day, my writing skills have slowly been improving. I am remembering techniques that I learned in the past. It's just like exercising a muscle. The more you do it, the stronger you get. That is how I feel after blogging.
As I have learned in this class, professional reading and writing is an essential skill in the workplace. We use it all the time, whether we recognize it or not. The english language is complex and requires time and practice to master. I am currently in that process.
I hope to continue my habit of daily writing, even after this class. I know it will benefit me in many of my personal and professional goals.
